Hmmmm.... How to begin a beautiful day in Florida? If you are Jodie, first you check the internet for Republican activity!
It's Monday or so we think. The plan for today is to spend the morning at the Dali musuem in St. Petersburg, have lunch at one of the many patio restuarants there and then check out the largest book store in Florida.
It's wonderful to share such an extraordinary experience that is the Dali with Jodie and Bob. They are usually the ones who come up with the great ideas and then have to make it happen. Today it's our turn.
The outside of the Dali is just as interesting as the inside, whimsy and creativity abound. Salvador Dali was such an extraordinary artist who was not afraid to be himself, to explore the limits of his art and expressed his vision and feelings even in the face of criticism. A lot to contemplate!
Inside the museum, no pictures are allowed except in the hall. So of course, we took our pictures in the hall. I thought I heard someone in our group say 'No more pictures!' but I was sure they were talking to someone else.
Dali's melting clocks (persistence of memory) are just one of the many images you take away with you.
Before you leave the museum, you may visit the Wishing Tree. Each person is asked to write their wish on the paper entry bracelet they recieved when entering the museum as part of an ongoing outdoor art display. This is Jodie attaching her wish!
Odd or not, at our age no one can pass up the fountain of youth. How long does it take for that water to work anyway?
Ahhh, lunch which has now fashionably become as cross between lunch and dinner.
We missed our first real sunset together and even though the planning maestro wanted to stop on the way back to the condo- screw bananas ! - its sunset time.
Thank you God for this time together.
