Being the romantic that he is, Larry gave me my choice of Valentine gifts. We could go to an outlet mall and shop together or I could decide where else I would rather go.
After a little research and a little wine, I reached the best decision of the trip so far - GATORLAND!!
It may not seem romantic, but it has TEETH! Yes, I would rather be in Gatorland than shopping! Those of you expecting souvenirs should start worrying now.
This is old school Florida at its best. Everything is low tech, very personal and in your face. We started our visit with the small gator viewing. These little guys - about 2-3 feet long - were piled on top of each other, twitching every few seconds, ready to pounce.
From there, we moved on to the bigger crocs. They hardly moved, but they didn't have to in order to get my full attention.
Here is the opportunity to 'pet' an alligator. The taped mouth is a technique I wish I had employed in the early years of parenting!! It seems so odd to want to pet something that would tear your arm off if untaped! We passed on this thrill. One of the main reasons for coming to Gatorland is the gator wrestling. Yes, its actually man vs gator.
We were three rows back and loving every minute of it. With a sense of humor and alot of strength, this man pulled an alligator out of the water, held his jaws shut and then rolled him over! I want one - the man not the gator!
Then we did our own interpretation of woman/man vs gator!
This was such an wonderful day. We just let ourselves be in the moment. I am so lucky to have such a considerate, caring partner who will say 'yes' when he is really thinking 'hmmmm'
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO ALL MY LOVES!
